What makes a community and dose Tech provide

In class last Thursday, we kind of just talk about how can a community be a community. For the most part everyone has a different view on how a community can be form. But the discussion was about if a community can be build in the internet and is it possible to have it similar to an actual community in real life

From my understand, a community is made when a divers group of people are living in regional area. Everyone has something in common, such as norms, values, identity. And for the most part, people are generally friendly to one and another and know each other a bit. You could see this similar to large family that sometimes says hello to you when you visit for the holidays. Then you got the town hall, elected leaders, public workers and workers with different skill sets. That's how I see a community is form.

So, dose tech world has anything like a community? well surprising yes,
The largest ones I know are the gamming community in MMO or Massively multiplayer online game. You have the popular games like World of Worldcraft, Overwatch, or any games that get people play together. Even for the games that don't have some type of chat room, people would go online and make a website to get people connected. This might sound funny but the game that I consider the most tightly knit community is League of legends. In this game people are group into teams that need to complete a task to beat the enemy team. I haven't play this game but the time my friends have talk about it. They go on and talk about the game nonstop. A little research on the game's website leads me to believe this is true. There are thousand of forums and many more stuff I need time to understand completely.

Its true that people in these gaming communities don't actually see each other but people have a good way to connect with each other. Another place that can be consider as a community is Facebook. know a days Facebook connects mostly everyone in your life. You can see them. have the option to talk to one another and much more.

So dose tech have a way to provide the same as a community. In my definition of a community its a yes.
